As an Usher/Greeter, you will be one of the first faces guests encounter when they arrive at Forest Theater. Position Summary 

Under the general supervision of the Guest Services Manager, with support from the Guest Services Coordinator and House Managers, the Usher/Greeter provides exceptional guest service and operational support during performances, events, and community programs. 

This role is essential to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all guests while helping advance Forest Theater’s mission of preserving culture, expanding opportunity, and strengthening community. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Create Exceptional Guest Experiences 

  • Welcome guests with warmth, professionalism, and hospitality. 
  • Assist guests with ticket scanning, seating, and navigating the venue. 
  • Provide accurate information about performances, amenities, accessibility services, and upcoming events. 
  • Respond to guest questions, concerns, and requests with courtesy and professionalism. 
  • Seat late arrivals and assist with guest relocations during appropriate performance breaks. 
  • Deliver exceptional service to guests of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. 

Support a Safe and Inclusive Environment 

  • Monitor audience behavior and help maintain a respectful and enjoyable atmosphere. 
  • Follow and enforce Front of House policies, venue procedures, and event-specific guidelines. 
  • Support emergency response procedures and assist with guest evacuations when necessary. 
  • Help manage crowd movement before, during, and after events. 
  • Identify and report safety concerns, maintenance issues, spills, hazards, or damaged seating to appropriate staff. 

Support Event Operations 

  • Maintain effective communication with team members using two-way radios and other communication tools. 
  • Assist House Managers, Guest Services leadership, and Volunteer Usher/Greeters as needed. 
  • Support merchandise sales and guest transactions when assigned. 
  • Provide wheelchair assistance and accessibility support when needed. 
  • Collect and submit lost-and-found items according to established procedures. 
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of Front of House spaces. 

Contribute to Our Mission and Culture 

  • Serve as an ambassador for Forest Theater and Forest Forward by demonstrating professionalism, respect, and commitment to community. 
  • Share information about community programs, arts initiatives, educational opportunities, and upcoming events when appropriate. 
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team environment. 
  • Manage scheduling through designated employee scheduling systems. 
  • Accurately record work hours and complete required trainings.

Qualifications 

Education and Experience 

  • Previous customer service, hospitality, retail, or event experience is preferred but not required. 
  • Must be able to work a minimum of three shifts per month. 
  • Interest in arts, culture, community engagement, or live events is encouraged.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements 

Forest Theater is a dynamic live entertainment and community venue. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. 

This role regularly requires: 

  • Standing and walking for extended periods. 
  • Navigating stairs, ramps, and multi-level seating areas. 
  • Assisting guests throughout the facility. 
  • Reading tickets, event information, and directional signage. 
  • Operating a two-way radio and communicating clearly with team members. 
  • Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, or moving materials related to event operations. 
  • Working indoors and, at times, outdoors during community events or special programs.
